AIESEC: the world’s largest youth-run organisation

Picture 1.png

AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-run organisation. Founded in 1948, AIESEC is now present in over 126 countries and territories and is still growing. Over 70,000 students and recent graduates, each year, in over 100 countries manage an organisation that facilitates tens of thousands of international exchanges so that young people can experience and understand cultures other than their own.

AIESEC is a global platform for young people to develop their leadership potential. We develop this potential by connecting young people with global internships, volunteering opportunities and roles within AIESEC. Our volunteering programmes help drive positive change in communities around the world. Each year, over 5,000 AIESECers facilitate internships around the globe, with organisations ranging from multinationals to start-ups. AIESEC works closely with the United Nations in order to work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) for 2030.

AIESEC has entity’s all over the world, in particular within the UK at many universities. AIESEC Nottingham is currently the highest achieving entity in the United Kingdom and is based at the University of Nottingham, despite accepting both University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent students.

We are currently in the process of attempting to expand into Nottingham Trent and target a new audience and promote what opportunities we have to offer abroad and get more people behind working towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. This will lead to greater exchanges and have a greater positive impact on the world. Especially as we believe in the potential of the younger generation and the impact we can have.

Our Why

We strive to achieve “Peace & Fulfilment of Humankind’s Potential”. In today’s context, peace doesn’t just mean avoiding war. Peace also means a world where conflict doesn’t arise from cultural, religious or other aspects of differences in humanity. Peace is harmony with yourself and the world where everyone can work towards their own understanding of peace, while respecting each other’s views, and striving to be the best versions of themselves. Through peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential, AIESEC strives for a world where people can be the best version of themselves. Our why is simple and makes sense when you look at the current state of the world, and where it can be.

Our How

We place our confidence in youth as the key to unlock a better future. We believe that leadership is the fundamental solution and it can be developed in anyone. We place our confidence in youth because they are the next generation of leadership. AIESEC is a platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. Going through an experience with AIESEC, young people are prepared to make a positive impact in any way they choose.

Our Unique Leadership Development Model

AIESEC’s leadership development model seeks to prepare youth to take a stand on what they care about and become capable to make a difference through their everyday actions. That is why our answer is to develop the characteristics below according to the biggest world trends.

This is the leadership we develop in young people.

Our What

What makes us different? It is what we do to achieve our why that makes us different. We enable young people to develop their leadership through learning from practical experiences in challenging environments. We do this through cross-cultural exchanges and by creating these opportunities. By delivering Standards and Satisfaction, AIESEC is facilitating an Inner and Outer Journey, that develops the Leadership Qualities of our customers and members. AIESEC is a leadership development organisation! If we are not delivering the leadership development model in an experience, we are not delivering an AIESEC Experience!

AIESEC Way is our path to make the world a better place. Can you imagine what happens to the world when we engage & develop every young person? This is the question that drives us as we strive to achieve what we envision: Peace & Fulfilment of Humankind’s Potential.

Our programme connects students and recent graduates to volunteering projects across the world, all facilitated by our student membership who work to produce the best exchange for you.
